Design and operation of 20KW bidirectional DC-DC converter and comparison of different topologies

Today Electrical Vehicles are trending the market and hence an efficient charger for these EV's has become a necessity. The DC-DC converter is an important sub-circuit in this charger. Therefore, the need to improve the performance and efficiency of this converter has become important. This paper talks about the operation and design of an isolated DC-DC converter (DAB) for electric vehicle charger application. The different modes of operation at different load conditions are discussed. Also a comparative study of DAB with CLLC circuit is done. Design and mathematical modelling is validated by simulating in MATLAB.
