Predication of Soil pH using K mean Segmentation and HSV Color Image Processing

The soil and its properties are the essential resources for Indian cultivation. So it is utmost important to know about the soil properties. Soil and its chemical and physical properties affect the quality and quantity of the farming. Among all chemical and physical properties of soil, soil pH is one of the essential properties to be measure before doing any farming. The soil with 55 to 7 pH level is always good for cultivation. But determination soil pH in the laboratory is the tedious, time and labor consuming process. In this study, we present a digital process which predicts the soil pH in a simple and accurate way. In this process, soil image is captured with the help Smartphone and then images are segmented with the help of K Mean and features of the soil image are determined using Hue, Saturation and Value (HSV) color image processing. Finally, features of the soil image are regressed with the actual pH value of the soil which is determined in soil pH laboratory and get the coefficient of regression as 0.859.
