Effective Energy Consumption Strategy For Smart Homes

Nowadays energy consumption remains as an important factor for all the individuals. Many methods have been proposed to reduce energy wastage. This article presents the idea of an efficient energy consumption strategy for smart homes. The proposed model mainly emphasizes on the efficient and effective lamp and fan control by considering the parameters such as intensity of light, human motion and room temperature. These parameters are determined and monitored by the respective sensors fixed in the respective places. The system is not only designed to be controlled automatically, it also allows him/her to operate manually using his/her own smart phone via a Wi-Fi module according to his/her need. When compared to the classical (manual) design and modern automated systems, the proposed system methodology is found to be substantially reducing the electricity consumption as it works automatically only if there is any human presence in that particular place. Also the speed of the fan changes according to the temperature of the place and intensity of light changes with respect to brightness in the room which can be detected by the sensors used and also supports manual control so that it meets the requirements of user in all the situations and also it helps in reduction of power consumption.
