Energy Conservation Techniques for Improving Lifetime of Wireless Sensor Network: A Survey

Data aggregation and data dissemination consumes considerable energy in wireless sensor networks. Energy depleted due to redundant data transmission as a result of path failure or node failure has impact in lifetime of the network. Further improper path design and lack of dynamic network reallocation affects normal data delivery process which decays overall network lifetime to a greater extent. Mitigating energy consumption and thereby improvising energy conservation is the major need for current demand in dense deployment of wireless sensor nodes. The methods and protocols associated in improving energy conservation without affecting the quality of service in the network are analyzed and summarized for future improvement.
