Constructing Montage Editing Technique in a Short Movie

Film editing is part of the post-production process in a film. One of film editing techniques is montage, coined by Sergei Eisenstein. Montage creates emotion and reasoning that blend with processes of intelligence, creation, and sensitive of the audience. Audience individuality is a fundamental in Eisenstein's montage concept. With the implementation of Montage editing techniques in the film, it is expected that audience not only develops emotional aspect but also able to build intellectual aspect and can provide independent overviews or draw conclusions from the film. This paper presents the process of making a short film using montage editing technique. The concept od montage by Sergei Eisenstein defined that when a thought (thesis) collides with another contrast thought (antithesis), it will result in a new and deeper thought (synthesis).
