A Tri-polarized MIMO Antenna with Diverse Radiation Properties for the 5G-V2X Vehicual Communications

In this paper, a tri-polarized MIMO antenna with diverse radiation properties for the 5G-V2X vehicular communication is proposed. The design consists of an omnidirectional monopole unit and two pairs of loop radiator dipoles. By loading eight pairs of double inverted L-shaped elements, the directional dipoles get wide-beamwidth characteristic for both E-plane and H-plane. Moreover, the larger inverted L elements lower the elevation angle of the main radiative direction of the monopole, which results in gain enhancement in the azimuth plane. For the directional cross-dipoles unit, two impedance bands reach 34.36% and 19.62% (VSWR<; 2). The half power beamwidths (HPBW) are 99° and 100° in E-Plane and H-Plane at 3.5 GHz, 119° and 95° in E-Plane and H-Plane at 4.9GHz, respectively. As for the omnidirectional monopole, it operates in 5.68-5.96 GHz (4.8%) with the gain of 2.50 ± 0.59dBi in the azimuth plane.
