A cross-domain functional safety approach of System of Systems on example Valet Parking

The increasing momentum of autonomous driving demands for constantly new assistance functions, such as valet parking. In the process, the vehicle is increasingly becoming part of the Internet of Things (IoT) and is gradually becoming a Cyber-Physical System (CPS). An example for arising challenges due this development is the analysis and consideration of functional safety in the context of the use case "Valet Parking", which describes an autonomous parking process in a parking garage. Current challenges include the interaction of systems and distributed functional scopes in various domains (automotive, industrial automation), which now have to be analyzed and evaluated according to the relevant standards. To handle the challenges of a functional safety analysis of a cross-domain System of Systems (SoS) we present an approach in this paper.
