Design of Communication Coil with Double-Eight Structure in EV-WPT System

Wireless power and information transfer(WPIT) technology has become increasingly popular because of its simple structure and the ability to effectively avoid information crosstalk. To realize the reliable communication between the primary and secondary sides of electric vehicles, wireless power transfer system(EV-WPT), this paper proposes double-eight communication coil as an independent signal transmission channel. In this study, we firstly expound its winding method and working principle , and then build its model to compare with the DD coil from the aspects of coupling degree, anti-offset and anti-interference performances based on COMSOL electromagnetic field simulation software. Results show that double-eight communication coil has excellent coupling coefficient, strong anti-offset and anti-interference performances, which is more suitable for the communication of high-power wireless power transmission system.
