An Energy Balance Model for CPV Module Lens and Cell Temperature

A simplified thermal model of a typical highconcentration photovoltaic module is presented. The one dimensional model calculates the optical lens, solar cell, and backplate temperatures in a single concentrator assembly, accounting for radiative, convective, and conductive heat transfer modes. Using representative system parameters, the calculated temperatures compared well with results from an independently verified empirical model based on measured system test data.
