A Non-Inverting Multi Device Interleaved Buck Boost Converter for Fuel Cell Low Voltage Applications

In this paper, a non-inverting buck boost converter along with multi device and multi-phase technique is proposed which is referred as multi-device multi-phase interleaved buck- boost converter (MDMPIBBC). This study shows how using multi device and multi-phase in converter can reduce filter component sizes, current ripple and increases bandwidth. The state space modeling of the proposed converter is carried to assess the stability of MDMPIBC. The internal resistances of the passive components are considered while evaluating the performance of the converter. The steady state behavior of MDMPIBBC is analyzed for a FC source with full load voltage of 55 V and a no load voltage of 90 V, which suits the rating of Ballard "FCgen 1020ACS" model. With the proposed converter the FC ripple is observed to be 4% (Which is less than the allowed FC current ripple i.e., 5%).
