Abstract:
This paper presents the design of an electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) for a commercial building in Bengaluru, India. With the advent of EVs, its highly necessary to have a wide network of charging station set-up across the country. This will lead to business premises installing charging stations which impacts the grid depending on the load profile. To reduce stress on the grid, one way is to have a high mix of renewable sources, hence Solar PV coupled with battery energy storage system is considered. Therefore, the aim of the paper is to develop a model to forecast the load profile considering charging power, nominal range, charging time, State of charge (SOC) at arrival and departure of EVs and the market share of EVs. This is to be modeled in MATLAB using the Monte Carlo simulation method. And to check the economic feasibility, a techno-economic analysis tool HOMER GRID is used.
