A Low Profile UWB Antenna for Biomedical Application

A compact monopole on-body Ultra-Wideband antenna has been proposed in this paper. The proposed antenna is better amongst the other antennas of similar type in comparison with size and other antenna performances. As UWB antenna, it has been designed to operate between the frequency range of 3.1GHz to 10.6 GHz. The proposed antenna has an overall dimension of 30mm x 18mm x 1.6mm and is put over a human phantom which is a three-layer structure for analyzing the performance in human body. The design and various analysis are done in the CST (Computer Simulation Technology) Microwave Studio software. The bandwidth of the antenna has been found 9.15 GHz with specific absorption rate (SAR) of 0.0396 W/kg. Gain, return loss and other parameters are also analyzed. The antenna can be used in biomedical application like diseases detection like cancer, real time monitoring, distance monitoring and so on.
