An application of discrete-time H/sub /spl infin// filters to tracking of power system harmonics

A new class of digital filters, called H/sub /spl infin// filters, has been developed during the last decade. In this paper, we present a new application of a discrete-time H/sub /spl infin// filter to the tracking of harmonic components in a power system. The H/sub /spl infin// filter, unlike the traditional Kalman filter, does not require the statistical information about disturbances, but only requires that the measurement and process noises to be bounded disturbances. Simulation results show that, if adjusted properly, an H/sub /spl infin// filter can track the changes in the harmonics.
