Modeling Solar Irradiance for Short-term Dynamic Analysis of Power Systems

This paper presents and compares four solar irradiance models for short-term power system analysis. Three of these models can be found in the literature but are based on approximations and shortcomings, which are duly discussed. The fourth model is novel and is formulated through stochastic differential equations with jumps. The case study illustrates the ability of the proposed solar irradiance model to generate synthetic processes that reproduce the stochastic properties of flickering events taken from measurement data.
