Geometric Characteristics of Saturation Tests in Synchronous Machines

The main machine testing standards present the necessary procedures in order to conduct saturation tests. The analysis of the measured data, however, depends on personal judgment when deciding the slopes of straight lines and the end of the linear part along with the beginning of saturation. This paper presents statistical models to fit measured data in a completely automatic fashion with Xd and SCR calculation. The suitability of the proposed models is proven with several case studies with applications.
