Design of a micro-service based Data Pool for device integration to speed up digitalization

The integration of heterogeneous systems and devices from different technological generations demands an easy and seamless way to exchange information. Gateways are essential to ensure the interoperability and operation of complex integrated infrastructures. Additional features such as resilience, cybersecurity and scalability may be needed depending on the application. This paper presents an enhanced gateway (Data Pool) based on a micro-service architecture that enables message brokerage and device integration for Industrial IoT applications, fulfilling these requirements.
