Antimicrobial Resistance Patterns Detection Using Gene Interaction Networks Analysis

The aim of this paper is to investigate the applicability of some recent algorithms proposed for functional motif finding in biological networks to gain information about antimicrobial resistance patterns, namely in E. coli antimicrobial resistance. An extension of a motif detection algorithm is proposed by taking into account the weights which quantify the strength of the interactions between the nodes in a gene interaction network. The proposed approach allows the identification of relevant patterns of interactions in the context of antimicrobial cross-resistance.
