Effect of FBG Compensated Dispersion on SCM/ASK Radio over Fiber System

In this paper, Radio over Fiber (RoF) system using Subcarrier Multiplexing/Amplitude Shift Keying for Optical Passive Network (PON) is proposed. The same wavelengths to both down and up-link channel and 1 Gbps data rate is provide over the distance 10 km bidirectional optical fiber. Chromatic dispersion is one of important factor that results from the finite spectral linewidth of the optical source and effect on the performance system. For that, ideal dispersion compensation Fiber Bragg Greeting (FBG) is used to reduce the impact of fiber chromatic dispersion and increase bandwidth efficiency. To remodulation downstream signal to upstream bidirectional optical fiber bidirectional Reflective Filter is utilized. The system performance is evaluated in terms Q-factor, BER and eye diagram using optisystem software version 10. According to our results, the system utilizing FBG has the better performance as compared with the system without FBG.
