Integrated Architecture of Active Phased Array Antennas for Millimeter Wave Applications

The applications and prospects of millimeter wave technology for radar detections and communications are introduced firstly in this paper. The corresponding critical technologies are analyzed subsequently. Due to the difference between these applications and technologies characteristics, the design routes of millimeter wave active phased array antennas and corresponding integrated architectures are studied and then proposed, main technologies focuses in these solutions, such as architecture, antenna elements, microwave devices and package integration are also suggested.
