Preliminary Study of antenna deformation for Wireless Power Transmission of Solar Power Satellite

Wireless power transmission (WPT) is one of the significant technologies towards Solar Power Satellite (SPS). Software Retrodirective method, consisting direction finding and beam forming is proposed for performing WPT. Tethered SPS has power generation and transmission panel to transmit 1 GW power. Required accuracy of WPT is 0.0005 degrees for Tethered SPS. Due to space environment, there is a concern of antenna deformation which will affect accuracy of WPT. We performed basic experiment for antenna deformation of λ/20 and λ/10. Effect of the deformation was analyzed for direction finding by measuring error of angle of arrival. Estimation was done to obtain allowable limit of position error for achieving the required accuracy.
