An Improved Design Method for Ring-focus Reflector Antenna with Elliptical Beam

In order to improve the performances such as low side lobe level of the conventional ring-focus reflector antenna of variable focal distance with elliptical beam, based on the conventional design method, the aperture electrical distribution, which can enhance the design flexibility and increases the possibility to achieve desired performance, is introduced to solve the curves in long-axis plane and short-axis plane. The design example through joint optimization combining the aperture electrical distribution with the transition function which used to form sub-reflector is implemented. As a result, the side lobe level of reflector is decreased with reasonable antenna efficiency.
