Design of Metallic PhC Band-Pass Filter in Quasi-Millimeter-Wave Band

A metallic photonic crystal (M-PhC) structure, consisting of a periodic alignment of via holes in a low-loss printed circuit board, has characteristics such as small-size, lightweight, high-Q and planar-circuit integration and has great potential as a platform for various electromagnetic wave circuits. In this paper, a 5-pole inline-type bandpass filer is designed and realized in terms of coupling matrix synthesis technique in quasi-millimeter-wave regime. The measured characteristics of the filter compare well with the theoretical and simulated ones, which validates the proposed structure and the corresponding design method.
