A Broadband Dual-Polarized Antenna Operating in 5G Frequency Band

A broadband dual-polarized antenna, operating over the new released bandwidth of 3.4-5.1 GHz for the 5G wireless communications, is proposed in this paper. A double-ring shaped crossed dipoles is introduced to enhance the wideband performance. Current distributions and parametric study have been provided to understand the operating scheme of the proposed antenna. Simulated results show that the proposed antenna achieves an impedance bandwidth of 42.9% (3.4-5.2 GHz) with VSWR<; 1.5 dB, and the port isolations are greater than 24.5 dB within the bandwidth. Over the operating frequency band, the gains >8 dBi as well as stable radiation patterns are achieved for both polarizations.
