Abstract:
This paper presents the comparative analysis of AC -AC power converter for primary side of wireless power transfer systems. Two versions of converters are reviewed: first version rectifies the grid supply through Power Factor Correction circuit and improves the quality of the input current and then using High Frequency Inverter, it is converted to high frequency AC supply that is fed to the transmitting coil, while the second version receives the grid supply at fundamental frequency and directly converts in to the high frequency to supply the transmitting coil. Further, both the topologies are modeled and loss investigation is carried out using silicon semiconductor devices, as well as GaN semiconductor devices, with the help of loss formulae. The loss matrix is illustrated through MATLAB coding along with the duty cycle and switching frequency. The comparative analysis for both the topologies is presented.
