Shadowing and Fading Environmental Effects on Lifetime Extension of Ad Hoc Wireless Networks

An algorithm is proposed for ad hoc wireless networks with environmental effects such as shadowing and fading, to extend the operation lifetime and energy of the network. The main aim is to maximize the lifetime of sensors covering a number of targeted zones, by sharing subsets to remove redundancies. Probabilistic coverage is assumed with shadowing and fading effects in the vicinity of network environment.. Path Loss Model (PLM) is used in the analyzed of shadowing, as well as considering probabilistic Rayleigh and Gaussian multi path fading channels effects based on Central Limit Theorem (CLT). This algorithm is implemented and simulated on a number of case studies of different environmental effects.
