Analysis and Experimental Study of Self-Excited Slip-Ring Induction Generator with Variable Capacitance and Rotor Resistance

This paper presents, a simplified equivalent circuit of self-excited slip ring induction generator (SESRIG) to obtain the steady state characteristics. The combination of nodal admittance method and real power balance approach reduced the circuit complexity. The performance of SESRIG has been verified experimentally with variable speed condition. The effect of variation of rotor resistance and excitation capacitance on magnitude and frequency of voltage for an extensive range of speed is discussed in detail.
