Wireless Communication and Charging for an Untethered Downhole Logging Tool

Downhole logging platforms must survive high temperatures, pressures, and harsh fluids, such as brine, which requires excellent sealing of the electronics. Even though the electronics are usually potted in a dielectric elastomer, hard wired connectors which extend outside the potted electronics can eventually cause failures due to water leakage under pressure. We developed an inductively coupled wireless charging and communication platform for our small untethered logging tool to prevent these types of failures.
