Structure and Function Sensing of Bio-tissues Based on Dual Channel Spectral Domain OCT

Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) is an optical imaging modality which can not only image the structure of bio-tissue, but also detect the function of tissue. In this paper, a fiber-based dual-channel SD-OCT system is designed. By combining the advantages of dual-channel SD-OCT and interferometric synthetic aperture microscopy (ISAM) in terms of imaging speed and lateral resolution, we reconstruct SD-OCT images with spatially invariant lateral resolution over the entire depth range. When the imaging range is constant, the imaging time of a dual-channel system is half that of a traditional single-channel system. In dual-channel SD-OCT, dual-channel data are separated by introducing an optical path offset between two channels in advance. Furthermore, the deterioration of lateral resolution beyond the depth of focus of a Gaussian beam is corrected during the image reconstruction process. This method is verified by imaging the acinar cells of an orange and a fish eye.
