Design and implementation of smart metering device using specialized IC ADE-7753 and its integration with web server for smart grid

Now a days, the conventional grid requires an infrastructure called Smart grid for two-way communication between consumers and utility. Smart meter is one of the major parts of smart grid. The main purpose of a smart meter is to record the energy consumption of consumers and transmit the data to the utility company. Smart Meter plays a vital role to enhance and improve reliability of electric power grid & incorporates memory feature in to the system. It eliminates reliance on personnel by taking readings automatically (AMR) and increases accuracy by taking readings several times a day. The consumers and utility are informed about the real time energy consumption and other required parameters using webhosting. It can also be used to implement features such as behavior analysis of consumers using Machine Learning Algorithms. Smart Meter is a device that opens up the window to integrate new technology to the conventional grid. This paper will shed light on the design and fabrication of digital smart meter for smart grid by using a specialized IC ADE753 and an interface to provide consumer awareness through understandable and meaningful representation of measured energy consumption parameters on a webpage and to provide utility with accurate data and detailed review about its consumers.
