PI Controller Design Using root-locus For Quasi-Z-Source Inverter

This paper presents a design of proportional-Integral (PI) controller using root-locus technique for a quasi-Z-source inverter (qZSI) in two mode operations: stand-alone and grid-connected. Controller design for qZSI is separated into two-stage controls which are DC side and AC side in both two mode operations. For the DC side of the converter, PI controller are designed through decoupling capacitor. As for the AC side, the voltage and current regulations are used for stand-alone operation and grid-connected operation, respectively. Simulation results via the exact topological model of MATLAB are used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control design.
