Speed Control of Single Inverter Dual PMSM Drives Using Sliding Mode Control

In this paper, a novel speed control scheme for the single inverter dual permanent magnet synchronous motor (SI-DPMSM) drive system is proposed, based on the sliding mode control (SMC) theory. For stable operation of the SI-DPMSM drive, active damping control should be added. Even though the parameters of the two motors do not match with each other, the stable control performance is obtained by the sliding mode control which is robust to disturbance and model uncertainties. The proposed controller has been verified by simulation and experimental results.
