Researches of displacement devices based on magnetostrictive bilayer plates under the action of pre-stressing caused by external and internal torques

This article presents the results of simulation and study of static characteristics of displacement devices (through the example of angular displacements) based on magnetostrictive bilayer plates under the action of pre-stressing. The stresses are caused by both external forces and induced moments of internal forces, including those resulting from temperature changes due to bimetallic deflection of a magnetostrictive plate made of materials with different values of linear expansion temperature coefficients. Significant refinements have been achieved concerning the dependences of the angular displacement of an inertial object on the control current during a change in the temperature of a bilayer plate and on the ratio of linear expansion temperature coefficients. Certain areas of focus have been determined for production of actuators with a significantly higher temperature stability of the characteristics on the basis of magnetostrictive plates with an active layer made of permendur due to the induction of elastic pre-stresses by moments of internal and external forces, with different ratios of the thermodynamic properties of the materials.
