Metallic Incubators in Bio-EMF Experiments – Possible Source of Discrepancies Between Research Groups and Results?

The presented article discusses a possible issue when performing experiments employing electromagnetic field sources (e.g. exposure coils or antennas) to irradiate biological samples in a specific manner and fashion. In such scenarios, various research groups usually employ commercially available incubators with metallic cavities and components - thereby possibly influencing the expected spatial arrangement of the generated electromagnetic field and magnetic flux density thereof. We thus simulated several possible scenarios and calculated percentual variations in the minimum/maximum magnetic flux density values in the exposed water-like samples between the reference, custom-made non-metallic incubator and metallic incubator in various configurations. Additionally, the presence of heating elements in the incubator generates an unexpected electromagnetic field, complementing the intentionally generated electromagnetic field.
