Stray Magnetic Fields of Toroidal Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES)

The stray magnetic fields of toroidal superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) as a system of individual coils are considered. It is shown that the stray field depends on both the number of coils, size coils, its relative position and also required dimensions and coil currents. To determine dimension characteristics, it is advisable to use the idealized model of the toroidal current surface. For approximate estimate of the stray field can be used simplified model of unidirectional current filaments.
