Internet of Measurement development based on NI PXI Remote Calibration

Traceability is an important property of a measurement result. It is achieved by regular verification or calibration of the measuring instrument. Existing methods of the physical quantities transfer to measuring instruments become ineffective due to the constant increase of the measuring tools amount. Duration of calibration increases. When measuring instrument transfer to the accredited organization for calibration, owner has not income. This paper review all these aspects of remote calibration and present results illustrating the benefits to be gained in our understanding of the IoM. The paper proposes a new method for calibrating voltmeters with remote access. This method is based on the use of programmable measuring instruments. The main idea of the method is automation of calibrating measurements process using a hardware-software complex. An accredited center employee carried out the calibration process via Ethernet by software. The paper presents a new hardware-software complex for voltmeter calibration with remote access. The complex consists of the controller, signal generator, and humidity and temperature sensors. The signal generator used as a measurement standard. The sensor supplies the control of conformity in accordance with normal conditions during calibration. Algorithms of designed software for calibration performing with remote access are presented. Explanations on the use of this method are given.
