Damping of Microsatellite Angular Velocity by Means of Magnetic Moments of Foucault Currents

The article considers the problem of damping of microsatellite angular velocity by means of magnetic moments caused by Foucault currents. The aim of this work is to obtain magnetic moments providing damping of angular velocities of a fast rotating microsatellite. Note that these magnetic moments of the microsatellite are caused by Foucault currents. The microsatellite has the shape of a cube. The method of averaging is applied for obtaining the damping mechanical moments the microsatellite. We determine the analytical expression for calculation of the magnetic moments that ensure damping of the angular velocity components. The efficiency of damping the angular velocity through the obtained magnetic moments is confirmed by the results of numerical integration of the equations of motion of the microsatellite.
