Effect of Leading Edge Volumic Shape Vortex Generators on Static Hysteresis of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Wing

This paper deals with innovative features in aerodynamics research on post-critical angles of attack. It shows that the vortex generators of complex volumic shape, located on the leading edge of a wing, can generate stable longitudinal pattern flow vortices. These vortex structures reach the trailing edge of a wing and disrupt conventional cross-connected vortex pattern that creates hysteresis, generates global flow separation and leads to drag increase, lift and momentum characteristics reduction. Mounting of vortex generators of complex volumic shape on leading-edge slats changes the conventional flow pattern around a wing on the optimally organized longitudinal helical flow pattern that actively affects the hysteresis, increases the critical angle of attack and improves momentum characteristics of vortex flow wing. Hysteresis elimination is one of the important problems of modern unsteady aerodynamics of unmanned aerial vehicles.
