Electromagnetic Field Levels in the Environment of Emergency Power Transformation Centers in Hospital Buildings

The objective is to know if the levels of electromagnetic field in the environment of the emergency Center of Transformation in a Hospital satisfied the regulations regarding electromagnetic emissions in workplaces. A measurement campaign and a set of computer simulations have been performed to detect if the field levels adjust the regulations. The limit values have been obtained according to that regulations and they are compared with the results obtained. Although the electric field levels followed the regulations, the magnetic field levels overpassed them in some locations, specifically the closest to the transformation center. There is no enough attention to the protection of the electromagnetic radiation and some measures are required based on shielding to protect the areas which receive the highest field level. The regulations are not accomplished in the hospital with the risks associated to this circumstance.
