Electrochemical Sensing of Nitrite using Flexible Carbon Nanotube Platforms

Free-standing and paper-like materials are new generation electrodes, those are most favored for electrocatalytical applications because of flexibility, thickness adjustability, and large surface opportunities, when compared to classical electrodes. Usually, graphene and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are preferred as skeleton of paper electrodes, and supported with various materials e.g. dyes, and polymer films. This study describes the preparation of a free-standing CNTs paper electrode doped with methylene blue (MB). Electrode was prepared using a simple vacuum filtration process and further electrochemical reduction approach. Characterization of the samples was executed by numerous instruments. Amperometric current was directly proportional to NO
₂
- concentration on the CNTs/MB paper-like electrode within 0.012-2.5 mM.
