Integration of Tools for Handling Open Access Scientific Articles

The present work presents the details of a methodology of software development combining reusing software principles and the Scrum methodology applied in the development of a research help system. Currently there is a wide variety of tools that help the researches to make the state of the art of their studies (reference managers, search engines, personal libraries in the cloud), which are very helpful in maintaining, organizing and sharing information. The disadvantage is that the publications are not found in a single system and the researchers access them in multiple directions for using the appropriate tools. Applying the proposed methodology, some of the tools most used by researchers were integrated into a single system, using principles of software reuse in order to save time and effort when performing the state of the art of a research. On the other hand, an integration interface was developed that will be of great help to researchers in their information search and retrieval processes. The system obtained allows the researcher to: a) search for articles in several repositories of scientific articles, b) store resources (data and metadata of scientific articles) in a personal library, c) store and manage files attached to each resource and d) generate and manage bibliographic citations. Applying the proposed methodology was possible to integrate in a single system some of the existing tools in order to save time and effort to develop the literature review in the research process. In addition, an integration interface of search and retrieval of information has been developed.
