Information System Design of Electric Scooter for Sustainable Tourist Transportation

This study discusses an information system design for an electric scooter for tourism. The electric scooter is powered by electricity generated from renewable energy resources to support eco-tourism. In the development of the information system, several aspects were considered, such as visual information processing, the principles of display design, and the application of eco-affordance and sustainability, so that the information system will improve eco-behavior and become understandable. The information system includes the login information based on user's personal information, tourist information system, vehicle condition monitoring such as battery condition, vehicle availability and docking mapping, and eco-behavior information system. The eco-behavior information system imposes a more eco-friendly utilization of the electric scooter, nature conserving activities in the tourism area, and the reward system. The design is also intended to make greater engagement between tourists and the local population to enhance conservation and sustainable tourism. In further work, it is necessary to assess the usability of the information system as well as its effectivity to improve eco-behavior among the electric scooter users.
