Power Loss Minimization in Radial Distribution System through Network Reconfiguration

The uncertainity of loads and increasing power demand has resulted in increased power loss in the system. Real power losses can be minimized by reconfiguring the network. A potent method is discussed in this paper based on Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (BPSO) to solve the network reconfiguration problem such that all the distribution network constraints are fulfilled. The suggested method is examined on the standard IEEE bus systems (33-bus and 69-bus) using MATLAB software and the influence of the BPSO parameters on the scale of faster convergence are investigated and the results obtained are promising.
