Digital Transformation Design of Banbury Mixing Unit in Tire Manufacturing

The importance of digital transformation has increased with the Industry 4.0 concept. Manufacturing companies have started to invest in digital transformation projects in order to increase their productivity and provide end-to-end traceability. Digital transformation has become inevitable due to the necessity of some quality guidelines that require more competition and traceability in the tire process. In this study, digital transformation design for improving product and energy efficiency in a tire production plant has been discussed. Digital transformation design is applied on Banbury Mixing Unit and performance data is collected. First of all, system data is obtained by creating infrastructure for collecting data from the manufacturing field (Shop Floor Control). In the second stage, the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is placed at a higher level and is integrated with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software in the top layer. Thus, end-to-end monitoring architecture which is used for the entire factory is realized on Banbury Mixing Unit.
