Simulation of Compact Power Lines

Methods and modeling tools for compact power lines with increased capacity have been developed. When developing, the technologies that allow defining the modes of electric-power systems (EPS) on the basis of phase coordinates were used. Such systems are based on the models of elements in form of lattice-like equivalent circuits with fully-connected topology. These models and methods are implemented in Fazonord-APC software package ensuring simulation of stationary modes of EPS, as well as determination of electromagnetic field strength created by power lines of various design. The results of simulating the modes and electromagnetic fields of compact overhead power line routing (220 kV) are presented. For comparison, similar calculations were performed for a standard 220 kV power line. The simulation results made it possible to formulate the following conclusions: in comparison with power lines of standard design the active power loss in compact power lines is significantly reduced; lower asymmetry is observed at the receiving end of compact power lines; some types of compact power lines provide the best conditions for electromagnetic safety.
