Geometrical and Analytical Methods for Probes Correction applied to Near Field Antennas Measurement Systems

In this paper, we present two techniques for probes correction for antenna near-field measurements systems. The first method based on an optimization of geometrical parameters of the probe, while the second one, on an analytical development based on the deconvolution method. In fact, because of the response of the probe to other components of the field radiated by the Antenne Under Test (AUT), to the influence of its geometrical parameters and to the problems related to its real measurement surface. An undesirable error occurs between the voltage recovered by the probe from the AUT and the real profile of the field radiated by AUT. A post-processing step is therefore necessary to correct this error. An Open Ended Rectangular Wave Guide (OERWG) probe is used to validate the two proposed approaches in this paper. Thus, the spatial response of the probe is calculated and validated by tests in front of real antennas. The results obtained show that the calculated and the reconstructed field are combined for the tests proposed in this study.
