Scalable vendor independent software platform for Pulse Sequence Implementation in MRI

Pulse Sequence plays a pivotal role in image acquisition using MRI Scanners. The Pulse Sequence design is an active area of research in MRI community. Its design depends on the anatomy being scanned and determines the quality of MR images acquired. However most of the commercial MRI machines lack the provision to add new sequences developed by the academic/research community. An innovative design wherein the newly developed pulses sequences are seamlessly integrated into the machine with due validation and registration and also without affecting the major software workflow is one of the key features of the software platform. Open source interfaces has been adopted for the interface communication framework development so that the pulse sequences can be integrated with MRI machines vendor independently. This open-standard based software environment helps in implementing and applying MR pulse sequences to clinical scanners from different vendors. Using this software the new pulse sequences developed by academic/research community can be directly validated and tested using the main MRI software in the different commercially available MRI scanners. This provides opportunity for easily utilizing the state-of-the-art domain expertise available for implementation of pulse sequences which can directly be played in MRI scanner using this software architecture.
