PLECS™ vs. VisSim™: Simulations of Fluxes in an Induction Motor

In this paper, two simulation programs PLECS and VisSim are compared on a same task of evaluating the influence of different methods of stator-resistance voltage-drop compensations on flux-linkage of an induction machine. The chosen topic is found appropriate for such a comparison. Total of three compensation methods were simulated and evaluated, namely: scalar, vector and a combination of these two. The vector compensation, as expected, showed best performance and that is, for the first time, confirmed by evaluating the machine fluxes only. From end user perspective, both programs can do similar job regarding simulation speed and general results accuracy.
