Detent Force Suppression of Double-Sided PM Linear Synchronous Motor with V-Shaped Magnets Arrangement

This paper focuses on the detent force suppression technologies for double-sided PM linear synchronous motor (DPMLSM). In order to solve the problem of thrust drop caused by the methods of conventional skewed magnets and dislocation of bilateral magnets, this paper presents the measures of asymmetric bilateral skewed magnets and V-shaped magnets. At the same time, the performance of DPMLSM with different types of bilateral asymmetric V-shaped magnets arrangement are compared. The detent force and thrust characteristics are analyzed by finite element (FE) method and the results are verified by experiment.
