A nonlinear electromagnetic-mechanical-thermal multi-field coupled model for Galfenol rods

A nonlinear electromagnetic-mechanical-thermal multi-field coupled model for Galfenol rods is established with the theory of Gibbs free energy, Jiles-Atherton model, Stoner-Wohlfarth model and the hybrid vector magnetic hysteresis model. The model considers the electromagnetic-mechanical-thermal coupling terms, dynamic losses properties and the anisotropic property which contains the anisotropic field H

. The model for Galfenol rods can calculate the dynamic response versus magnetic field under various stress and temperature. The measurement of magnetostriction for Galfenol rod specimen with 10 mm in diameter and 40 mm in length was made by the WK-22 magnetic parameter measurement system. The calculated and experimental results match very well. It means that the proposed model can effectively describe the effect of the stress and temperature on the magnetostriction for Galfenol rods. Moreover, the effect of frequency on the hysteresis loss can also be predicted.
