A Dead-Time Compensation Method for Voltage Source Inverters

Dead-time effect causes harmonics in the output voltage and current of voltage source inverter (VSI), which degrade the performance of motor driving. A dead-time compensation method is proposed to compensate dead-time effect. The proposed method doesn't require the information about parasitic capacitance and some other parameters. It first detects the relationship between dead-time compensation voltage and output current, then compensates dead-time effect according to the relationship detected. To eliminate the effect of current sampling delay, the predicted current is used to compensate the dead-time effect. The proposed dead-time compensation method is verified by experiments.
